Biography

Paul Whelan was born on March 5th, 1970, in Ottawa Ontario, Canada. He grew up in Michigan, USA. The funny bit about him is that he holds citizenship in four different countries i.e. United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.

About his career, Paul had served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1994 to 2008 before his promotion to be a staff sergeant. During his career, he has been spotted to have done his mission in different nations. Besides being a soldier, he has also worked for corporate companies as a security intel.

He was arrested on December 28th, 2018. This is where the Russian government charged him with spying on them hence being sentenced to serve 16 years in prison. During his arrest, the U.S. government tried so hard to help him out but it was all in vain. This act finally came to success after he was released on the 1st of August 2024 with his fellow journalist Evan Gershkovich. Currently, Paul Whelan is at home with his family happily enjoying his release and freedom.
