With the August polls fast approaching, the political temperatures in the country are currently high. The long awaited elections are barely 100 days away. Politicians and their advisors are moving all round the country trying to sell their agenda to the Wananchi, weather true or false promises, just to secure their vote come august. The IEBC has announced that there are over 55 presidential hopefuls, the highest number ever recorded since the country’s independence. However, of all the aspirants, new TIFA polls indicate that William Ruto is the most preferred of all candidates followed by Raila Odinga.
The new TIFA polls show that Raila Odinga will carry the day, leading with 39% with his Kenya Kwanza brigade. He is however, followed closely by Raila Odinga who is the Azimio la Umoja flag bearer at 32% of the total projected voted.
Additionally, the new TIFA polls that have just been released this week reveal that the United Democratic Alliance(UDA) is the most popular political party in the country with over 34%. The Orange Democratic party follows from a far range with 19% and only 4% of the sample population supported Jubilee party.
However, a large number of the Kenyan citizens still remain undecided with over 13% not knowing which party to support. Many counties have also turned from strongholds to be barely swing regions. For instance, the Mount Keya region is no longer a Jubilee stronghold with parties such as UDA dominating and caring the day.
William Ruto still remains very popular in the mount Kenya region despite efforts by Uhuru Kenyatta convincing people to support Baba-Raila Amolo Odinga. Regions such as Meru and Tharaka Nithi remain on swing votes with Baba almost having equal followers as those of William Ruto.
