Things Kenyan Teachers are Not allowed to do by TSC will form the major part of this article. The teacher’s service commission of Kenya is one of the largest employers in the country with thousands of teachers spread across the country. The TSC also is responsible for issuing the code of conduct to all teachers and its members. The members are expected to obey and live by the code of conduct. However, the code doesn’t allow teachers across the country to do the following things:
Things Kenyan Teachers are Not allowed to do by TSC:
1. A teacher shall not while performing his duty practice nepotism, favoritism, or any religious bias. This code of conduct means that the teachers must treat the students on equal grounds regardless of whether one is a Christian, a pagan or a Muslim, or Hindu.
2. A teacher shall not deny learning materials or remedial teaching to learners on account of their natural abilities.
3. A teacher shall not misappropriate public funds. This code of conduct binds principals and all teachers to be accountable for every coin that passes through their office.
4. A teacher shall not use public or institutional funds for activities not related to their official work.
5. A teacher shall not act as an agent or further the interests of a party or candidate in an election. This code of conduct is very important as we near the election period.
6. Things Kenyan Teachers are Not allowed to do by TSC. A teacher shall not engage in political campaigns that compromise the dignity of his or her office.
7. A teacher shall not supply or expose the learners to pornography or access to the same.
8. A teacher shall not send a learner away from school earlier than 6 am or later than12 pm except when an emergency occurs.
9. A teacher shall not engage in any sexual activities with a learner regardless of the learner’s consent.
