The iconic stadium was opened on the 28th of April in 1877. It was built in 1876 and renovated a number of times. It should be noted that Chelsea Football Club was founded in 1905. Yes. the stadium is older than the club.
Reason Why the Stadium is Known as Stamford Bridge
The name Stamford bridge has been derived from the stamfordesbrigge. This name means the bridge at the sandy ford. In the 18th century, there were two famous bridges in London. One was known as the Stamford Bridge on Fulham Road and the other was the Stanbridge bridge, now known as Stanley Bridge. From the bridge, the stadium acquired the name Stamford bridge.
