‘Apo sasa’: Comrades Rejoice as William Ruto Promises the following on HELB Loan, if elected

The electioneering period is here with us. Every place that more than one Kenyan is gathered, politics must dominate. Most say that the top race in the country currently has got only two horses, DP William Ruto and former prime minister Raila Odinga. Politicians all over the country are promising us heaven on earth with the latest being William Ruto’s promise to University and College comrades.

In a speech to Kenyans, here is what he had to say concerning the HELB loans. ”Tutafanya pesaya HELB iwe grant na sio loan. Pesa ya HELB iongezwe na tuondoe interest rate”, Deputy president Ruto promises comrades. ”Pesa hiyo inakuja kama imechelewa, watu wamesonga na kimeumana. Hakuna mtu atawekwa CRB kwa sababu ya HELB” Ruto added.

These comes during a time when the country is facing deep financial crises and tough economic times. It is said that University comrades are one of the poorest lots in the country and that they only encounter money in theories. The statement might be true as many suffer to raise funds for their fees, feeding and maintenance.

If at all Ruto will deliver his promise, University and college will be very conducive for comrades. Some have resulted in doing manual businesses to raise a little penny while others like Juja Comrades survive  by the mercies of rich American and UK students through the academic writing programs.

It should be remembered that HELB accumulates interest on a monthly and yearly basis. The amount that you borrowed years ago is increasing even as you read this article. Immediate Intervention is needed. Ruto added that in his tenure as the head of state, no one will be listed in CRB for failing to pay the HELB loan. Interesting times!
