‘Alaa!’ Fred Machokaa angers Kenyans after making this remark on Food Prices:
Veteran Radio Journalist Fred Obachu Machokaa has once again appeared on the public limelight after making a comment that has angered most Kenyans. It should be noted that Kenya has a high percentage of its citizens in Facebook and twitter, commonly known as Kenyans on Twitter. Beginning form Saturday 19th of February, Kenyans have been twitting under the hashtag ”Reducefoodprices” after the food price shot to almost double the price during president Kenyatta’s regime.
Quite a good number of the Citizens of the country believe that the country is ended in the wrong direction. Most argue out that life has become challenging during the post-handshake time that saw Raila Odinga shake hands with president Kenyatta.
Nearly the entire country is complaining of the rising food prices. However, Fred Machokaa has angered most Kenyans after saying that Food prices in Kenya are at their lowest. Many have come out in large numbers criticizing him for making such sentiments without involving his brain.
In an explanation of the rising food prices, before handshake, a Kg of sugar costed 90 shs but now costs 140 Kshs. In the year 2018, a litre of cooking oil costed 160 shs but is now at 360 shs. These products, coupled up with other products have made the standards of living in the country to be very difficult.
To add salt on an already existing would, Fred Machokaa claimed that ”Its Brokers (what you call mama mboga) that are milking the consumer , not the farmer”. Kenyans have publicly criticized him that the reason why the prices are high is because of the high taxes from the government.
What are your thoughts about the sentiments of Fred Machokaa? Feel free to comment in the space available after this article.
