11 Reasons why Humans Dream and why Dreaming is Healthy

Have you experienced this rhetorical question why do we dream? I regard this question as a very hard puzzle that many of us are stuck on to solve. Regardless of what many think, there is no definitive answer to this question. Through a lot of research, I have managed to come up with some potential benefits of dreaming. In this blog, I will take you through some of the benefits of dreams that I have noticed.

Why Do We Dream?

1. Memory Consolidation: 

If I may take the example of a student who is proceeding with their studies, after a very long day of studies, they will have a lot of things to absorb and transfer from short-term to long-term memory through dreaming.

2. Emotional Processing: 

When you are experiencing strong emotions, you can process them through dreams, whether they are positive or negative.

3. Problem-Solving:

Anybody can be in any position to solve their problems through dreaming.

4. Cognitive Development: 

This is mostly applicable to children where they will develop creative thinking through dreaming.

5. Physical and Mental Health: 

When you have enough sleep and give your mind time for relaxation, you will develop good mental health as well as appreciated physical health.

6. Creativity: 

Through my research, I realized that dreams are great contributors to creative thinking.

Through dreaming you will be able to understand your feelings and thoughts much more.

8. Stress Reduction:

Have you ever Been stuck into deep thoughts that caused stress and left you shocked? Through dreaming, you can reduce this stress greatly.

Take a good example of when you are having intimacy with someone, you can have frequent dreams with them and this will strengthen the bond much more.

10. Spiritual Growth: 

For those who are deep believers, they do believe that dreams do come with significant meanings that are future insights.

11. Survival Instinct: 

We have experienced various theories that suggest dreams will help us to prepare for potential threats and challenges in the near future.
